Siddhartha assignment

Siddhartha's departure from home against his fathers word, was a very brave task to do. This was a very brave desicion, because Siddhartha has never been far away from home, and go against his fathers beliefs and opinions. " Siddhartha, " he said, "why are you waiting?" "you know why." ...(pg.11-12). When i see Siddhartha leaving his dad, i wonder if i would leave my family, go against my fathers word, and go on my life desired journey, how would i even surrvive? I believe i would not be able to acctually come through with it. In the book Siddhartha also leaves Govinda, his best freind and companionship. He leaves his friend, beacause he feels their are greater paths for him, but not for Govinda. "You have heard my blessing, Govinda. I repeat it. May you travel this path to the end. May you find salvation! in that moment, Govinda realized that his friend was leaving himand he began to weep." (pg. 31). If one of my good friends were to leave me when i was going through a tough time in my life, i would feel even more terrible. These two topics really meant alot to me and my thought process with them.

Macbeth "being a man blogging assignment"

Quote 1. Lady Macbeth: " Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty. Make thick blood. Stop up th' access and passage to remorse,.. (act 1. scene 5, lines 47-51).

Context: This quote is about Lady Macbeth wanting to change to a man and make her cruel and heartless. She is also stating manhood is based on relentless remorse.

Interpretation and explanation: This shows that Lady Macbeth has true manliness inside her. A manliness too clean up the killing of the King.

Quote 2. Ross: Your castle is surprised, your wife and babes Savagely slaughtered.... Malcom: Merciful heaven! What, man, ne'er pull your hat upon your brows. Give sorrow words. That grief that does not speak..... (act 4, scene 3, lines 240-247).

Context: This quote shows that Ross and Malcom are trying to give Macduff the manliness too go and kill the betrayed king. Malcom is trying to tell him to get your head on straight and look at the big picture.

Interpretation and explanation: The manliness comes into this through confrontation and persuasion by Malcom and Ross. Macduff finds his man state, and eventually goes after the king.

Quote 3. Malcom: “This tune goes manly” ( act 4, scene 3, line 276).

Context: Malcom says this tune gone manly, which means what Macduff is saying is true manliness. Malcom wants Macbeth dead and he convinces Macduff as well.

Interpretation and explanation: This shows manliness in Macduff because he is willing to partner up with Malcom, in search of Macbeth's life.

Quote 4. Lady Macbeth: “When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man” (act 1, scene 7, lines 56-58).

Context: This quote means that Lady Macbeth is talking to Macbeth about being a true man. She wants him to be more like a man by showing more action.

Interpretation and explanation: Lady Macbeth is stating this because Macbeth was afraid of the consequences that could come from the murderous crime. Lady Macbeth wants to channel some of her manliness towards Macbeth.

Quote 5. Ross: “Your son, my lord, has paid a soldier’s debt. He only lived but till he was a man, The which no sooner had his prowess confirmed In the unshrinking station where he fought, But like a man he died” (act 5, scene 8 lines 44-48).

Context: This Quote is about Ross explaining to Siward of his sons death. That his son lived an honorable and had true manliness to even step up to Macbeth.

Interpretation and explanation: This shows true manliness because Siward's son showed no fear in stepping up too a king that was untrustworthy.

Odyssey writing assignment

THEME: I believe the theme throught chapters 11-22 is summed up into; Life needs to be valued by living to the fullest, being active, patient, and kind because you rarely get second chances.

Having patients is very important in life. In the Book patients allows others around you to adapt to the enviroment, Odysseus is patient with his trip back, because he is unsure that his wife is still full hearted for him. A quote from the story that represents patients is; "First i will transform you-no one must know you. In rags you'd hate to see some other mortal wear;......"(Pg. 299, 454-450). This Quote represents the patience Odysseus has, he has not seen his wife in years, and he disquises himself in search of her heart. Patients is very important, for the well being of the people surronding you.

Staying active and striving to acheive your goals is a necessaty in our world today. No matter how much faith and hope was lost on Odysseus's ship, he never gave up the reach to Ithaca. " I'm right here, here in the flesh-myself-and home at last, after bearing twenty years of brutal hardship. Now i know that of all my men you two alone longed for my return. From the rest ive heard not one real prayer that i come back again (pg.431, 233-239). This quote shows how hard Odysseus worked to come back home, yet he came back to a bunch of scoundrals.

Lastly it is important that life should always be valued. In the Odyssey Odysseus values his life to the fullest, he never took his life for granted, and even when it is rocky, he kept on pushing. "But you, Achilles, there is not a man in this world more blest then you...." (pg. 265, 547-560). This quote truly represents that even the most wealthy of people, may not be having the great life that you think they have, but foucusing on the true meaning and value of life, is truly special.

Martin Luther king junior was a hero

A true real life hero in my opinion was Martin Luther King Junior, who helped african americans receive their freedom in our world today. Ten Events from his life that support this are;

1. The first event that really brought him along to be a hero, was that he became a clergyman at the age of 18, at his baptist church.

2. The second event, that really kicked off his movements, was when Martin Luther became one of the leaders, of a civil rights movement.

3. The third event about Martin Luther, was he fought against segregation and racial discrimination in the 1950's and 60's.

4. King received a vast amount of awards, which really motivated him even more.

5. King was the youngest ever person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

6. He also led a bus boycott, that went on for 382 days.

7. He used no violent methods for the civil rights movement, in the ways of Gandhi.

8. His i have a dream speech, was his big boom that impacted millions of people.

9. After his assassination, people began to accept blacks for who they are, and he brought peace to our country.

10. MLKJ, was the main reason, segregation and discrimination is ended in our country today.

All of these events, was what truly made MLKJ one of Americas fondest hero's today.

Odysseus

I believe Odysseus is a hero because he stuck with his wife and never gave up on himself. He struggled long and hard to get back to his wife and son. He went through places where he never thought he would get out of like the underworld for instance, yet he believed he could and he did. I also believe Odysseus is not a hero, because he took his luxury time to get home while his wife was in pain. He did not show much strive to get home which makes him untrustworthy. Odysseus is a hero in some cases and not a hero in other cases, which really conflicts his overall appearence.

Telemachus

I believe Telemachus, son of odysseus, Is in fact a hero based on the elements of the Hero's Journey. He is a hero, because he never gives up in finding his dad. He eventually finds his dad odysseus, and all the hard work he put use, payed off. Telemachus never gave up on the search for his dad. This makes him a hero because he didnt even know his dad, and he still didnt give up on someone he didnt know. Telemachus is a true hero, because he saved his father and his palace all single handed.

Randy moss opinion

My opinion revolving around Randy Moss playing for the Vikings, was very shocking, because i never expected Randy to leave a solid team like the Patriots. The vikings got an all around great trade. I believe it will help them in the long run, but will it bring them to a Superbowl? I also believe that Randy Moss is very fast and likes to go deep allot. The question is, will 40+ year old Favre, be able to put it in the bread basket of the explosive Moss. My last point concluding this topic is can Randy keep up with all the young talented corners. Randy moss is what now 30+ age, and he is coming close to the end of his career, the Vikings should be picking up young talent!!! Instead of old farts that may have troubles with injuries. Concluding this blog post, i will say the vikings may have the golden arm of Favre, the speedy Randy moss, and they will most likely make it to the playoffs, but how long will the glory last. My prediction is they loose Favre after this year and are left with an ok QB. What good is Moss, with know arm to dish it to him???
